A painful toothache can be caused by a wide range of factors:

  • Tooth decay, gum disease, tooth grinding, impacted wisdom teeth and even something more serious such as oral cancer can cause painful toothache.
  • If you have severe toothache, a bad taste in your mouth, fever or any swelling you should make an appointment to see your dentist immediately.
  • These conditions can all be treated and should not be ignored, as they can worsen and cause more serious problems.
