Fluoride and Children’s Teeth
Despite some early controversy, fluoride is now accepted as being safe and is widely used in many public water sources as well as in dental products. Many toothpastes and mouthwashes contain fluoride as the mineral has been shown to have many benefits for dental health, including:

– Reduced incidence of tooth decay
– Improved dental health in adulthood
Children are probably exposed to fluoride in drinking water and there is the possibility of “getting too much fluoride” if they also use fluoride-based dental products — so it is important to discuss the level of fluoride intake with the child’s dentist.
